Norfolk International Airport invites you to join our friendly team of volunteer Airport Ambassadors. Identified by their distinctive red vest and blazers, volunteers can be found throughout the airport providing information and assistance. Our volunteers have a well-earned reputation for extending prompt, courteous service and hospitality.
Ambassadors are trained to provide general directions, flight status, airline gate locations, wheelchair assistance, ground transportation information and also to welcome visitors to regional tourism destinations and conferences at our Visitor Information Center. Volunteers also assist with special airport events such as Thank the Visitor Day.

Qualifications:
Ambassadors must be willing to learn and perform various duties, communicate effectively, work well with a variety of people and personalities, be reliable, flexible and remain calm under pressure.
Shifts needed:
8:30am – 12:30pm and 12:30pm – 4:30pm Monday – Friday. Ambassadors are asked to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours per week.

Virginia Aviation Ambassadors Program
Separate from the Norfolk International Airport Ambassador Volunteer Program, the Virginia Aviation Ambassadors Program is a Virginia Department of Aviation initiative designed to encourage pilots to fly to all of the airports in Virginia as well as visit aviation museums and attend safety seminars. Pilots and aviation enthusiasts will get to see the valuable assets that are Virginia’s system of airports. As they set and meet goals in their flying and sightseeing, participants will also have fun and learn more about the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The Virginia Aviation Ambassadors Program provides Bronze, Silver and Gold level recognition for pilots and passengers who visit (fly or drive) Virginia’s airports and aviation museums, participate in one of DOAV/FAA Safety programs and attend the Virginia Regional Festival of Flight.
Visit local public-use airports and request a Virginia Aviation Ambassador’s Program passport. Each time you visit a Virginia public-use airport, aviation museum, or safety seminar, have your passport stamped in the appropriate block. Norfolk International Airport’s fixed base operator, Signature Flight Support, provides passport stamps for program participants. Signature is located adjacent to Norfolk International Airport at 6101 Burton Station Road, Norfolk, Virginia 23502.
