Internships

Norfolk Airport Authority (NAA) supports internship programs that provide growth and learning opportunities to students in high school, college and trade schools. NAA provides a variety of programs to assist students with meaningful learning experience applicable to the student’s field of study.

What is an internship?

An internship is an introductory work experience in a professional career field. The goal of an internship is to provide experience and insight into a certain field while also performing some functional work in exchange for the experience. Learning objectives will be developed when considering a student internship opportunity.

Program Overview

NAA offers a variety of internship opportunities for students throughout our organization. Internship experiences are designed to provide students with exposure to aviation and departmental operations NAA. The experience will provide students with opportunities for professional development and networking opportunities.

NAA offers internship opportunities in several departments: Administration, Building Maintenance, Finance, Human Resources, Market Development and Operations.

Eligibility Requirements

NAA internships are open to current students who are legally permitted to work in the U.S. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in high school (or a recent high school graduate); an accredited college (including four-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; in a military skill bridge program.

Program Structure

Students must be willing to commit to a minimum of 100 hours. Students will be paired with departments related to their field of study or career interest; however, all students will be involved in a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion capstone project.
